Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Project Manager in our Chandler, Arizona office to join our diverse Project Management team in our Mining, Minerals and Metals Business Line. This role will require a driven, organized, and detail-oriented individual who is prepared to interface with our project teams and clients. It will provide opportunity to work with some of our largest clients, engage with multiple teams across our business, and be mentored by our senior business developers. There will be focus on project coordination, task management, and change tracking. The individual is expected to have a minimum of 10 – 15 years of experience as an engineer or scientist in the mining industry, either in a consulting role or working directly for the mining industry. Previous exposure or experience in project management is highly preferred.

Your Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager is a key member of the team responsible for collaborating with project teams to provide support for the successful execution of projects through conformance to Stantec’s Frameworks, corporate policies, and client requirements and standards. This role requires providing accurate expenditure information, performance data, timely cost forecasts, and forward-looking advice to project teams and our clients to support achievement of budget and schedule objectives, health and safety, and audit requirements. As a Project Manager, you will:

Prepare proposals and budget estimates.

  • Be focused on client engagement.

  • Engage in proactive communication to prevent, identify, and mitigate barriers to maintaining the budget and schedule.

  • Help the Technical Managers drive quality management.

  • Prepare project set up forms, project implementation plans, health and safety forms, initial resource planning, deliverables added to calendar.

  • Actively participate in development and tracking of project schedules

  • Coordinate with various shared services groups including legal, accounting, insurance, IT and procurement.

  • Keep the project team informed of barriers to maintaining the budget and schedule.

  • Understand and optimize project controls processes and system(s)

  • Prepare accurate and timely project reports.

  • Review draft invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client requirements.

  • Maintain deliverables lists, logs and action item lists in accordance with project requirements

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in the mining industry is a plus, with a background in engineering or science.

  • Attention to detail and strong QA/QC skills.

  • Must be a team player and able to work with a variety of personalities.

  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within frequently changing priorities.

  • Must be willing and able to take initiative.

  • Willingness to work from the office three days per week.

  • Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills on a consistent basis.

  • Ability to travel as required for project management assignments.

  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Education and Experience

  • The individual is expected to have a minimum of 10-15 years of experience as an engineer or scientist in the mining industry, either in a consulting role or working directly for the mining industry.

  • Minimum of 8 years project management experience preferred.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or environmental sciences

  • Desire to obtain a CAPM or PMP certification is a plus.

  • A PE or professional engineering certification is desired.
