As a result of our growing pipeline of work Stantec are actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Water Business in the West Region at our Bristol, Exeter and Cardiff offices. You will grow our reputation within the local community and Water Business, by providing mechanical design services for a range of projects.

The team currently provide technical design services and expertise as part of integrated project teams.These clients offer the opportunity to work on some of the most high profile projects in the industry.

The successful candidate will be involved in the whole project life cycle from development of strategy, through to feasibility, optioneering and detailed design and construction support including site surveys and investigations. In line with our Communities of Practice approach, there are also opportunities to work on a wide variety of other projects in water, wastewater, energy, infrastructure and environmental sectors.

As an experienced Mechanical Engineer, you will hold responsibility for working and liaising with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the projects and community.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will help develop the team by acting as a mentor or guide to less experienced members within the team.Depending on experience, you may be in a position to take a leadership role within the team.

About You

The successful candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer who is Chartered or Incorporated with the IMechE with experience in mechanical design, ideally within the water industry.

You will be experienced in producing technical specifications, pump sizing calculations, schedules, reports and familiar with collaborative reviews and designs of solutions.

You will be able to provide engineering input to collaborative design outputs, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.

To be successful in this role, you will have strong communication skills to give technical presentations to clients and other design engineers as well as inputting into collaborative design discussions including technical workshops, HAZOPs and ALMs.

You will understand how water and wastewater treatment processes operate and be experienced in assessing existing site infrastructure to develop and deliver the mechanical design. We would also be interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within the energy, infrastructure & environmental sectors in a mechanical engineering capacity.
