Stantec is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Environmental Services Practice working within our Northern California region. The position is to be based out of our Sacramento, Roseville, Nevada City, Chico, San Jose, Tahoe, or Reno Offices; geographic alignment with other Stantec offices will be considered based on experience. Stantec offers flexible work locations (including working from home), flexible work hours and a robust compensation and benefits package.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Be involved in a variety of public and private sector projects within our Environmental Services Team to support our client’s objectives and goals.

  • Assist multi-disciplinary project/program teams in all phases of the execution and delivery of FERC hydropower relicensing, operations, and maintenance projects, and other environmental regulatory compliance assignments.

  • Tasks may include providing support to technical staff and project managers on process management, permitting, site and impact assessment, restoration, land use management plans, and public involvement activities.

  • Conduct research and write sections of environmental documents (e.g., CEQA/NEPA), survey reports, and impact assessments.

  • Support regulatory agency permitting activities (e.g., ESA, CWA, USACE, etc.).

  • Support project managers with developing scopes and budgets and tracking schedules and deliverables.

  • Assist with planning, implementation, preparation, and participation of public outreach activities to federal, state, and local governments and project stakeholders.

  • Under direct supervision, manage small projects and assigned tasks of large projects, as requested.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • 3–5 years of overall experience with 3 years of experience performing environmental planning and permitting work.

  • Working knowledge related to CEQA document preparation and environmental permitting.

  • General understanding of local municipal planning and/or biological resource constraints within the Northern California region.

  • Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Team-oriented professional with strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities.

  • Detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills for managing large data sets and project documentation/materials.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality work products.

  • Familiarity with review and analysis of scientific data, maps, and drawings.

  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of FERC’s hydropower relicensing process

  • NEPA experience

  • CWA 404/401 permitting

  • CA Fish and Wildlife 1600 permitting experience

  • Experience working with multiple-discipline resource teams

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Urban, Regional or Environmental Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

Salary Range(s):

  • CA Other Areas $35.38Per Hour - CA Other Areas $51.30 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
