YourOpportunity

As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will be a member

of a multi-disciplinary team working in energy and resources; primarily on

metal, coal and large oil sands mining projects. The Water Resources Engineer will be

responsible for various aspects, in an applied and supervisory role, of water

management planning and design including hydrology assessments, hydraulic

analyses, hydraulic structures designs, water management plans, mine water

balance studies and construction management.

Applicants must be prepared to travel to field based

assignments and to support field operations as required.

YourKey Responsibilities

  • Leading engineeringdesign of hydraulic structures including spillways, stream diversions,surface drainage systems, water intakes, water outfalls, sedimentationponds, storage reservoirs.

  • Reviewing, analyzingand evaluating hydrology design precipitation and flood flows for damstructures and drainage infrastructure design, across a range of locationsand climates.

  • Input to damsafety studies and risk assessment of mine waste facilities, including dambreach inundation modeling.

  • Leadingengineering assessments and designs for mine water management plans,erosion control plan and construction execution plans.

  • Providing supervision,training, technical direction and mentoring to more junior staff

  • Contributing tobusiness development activities, including proposals and qualificationstatements.

  • Participating inHealth, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, standards andguidelines in the execution of all work.

  • Interacting andinterfacing with clients and environmental regulators.

YourCapabilities and Credentials

  • Technicalknowledge and experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling,calculations and design.

  • Experience insoftware packages such as SEDCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, GoldSim, AutoCAD orAutoCAD Civil 3D and proficiency working with MS Office Suite.

  • Experience withwriting technical memos and reports.

  • Stronginterpersonal, collaborative and communication skills.

  • Ability to travelto field locations

  • Working knowledgein civil/geotechnical construction oversight of major earthworks or watercontrol structures is an asset.

Educationand Experience

Bachelor’s

or Master’s degree in in civil, environmental or water resources engineering.

Registered

or eligible for registration with APEGA as a P.Eng

Minimum

of 10 years related experience.

Candidates with less experience, but strong credentials with a mining

and dams focus will be considered.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for

long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including

inclement weather.
