Your Opportunity

As a Construction Coordinator, you will be working on Residential, Commercial, and Institutional infrastructure projects on our Field Services Team, as part of our Community Development Business Centre. The primary responsibilities for this role are varied; however generally involve the coordination of construction activities and contract administration in Calgary and in surrounding communities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • You will be working with project teams, to coordinate daily onsite construction activities and to ensure that infrastructure projects are completed as per design and specification and that there are prepared for acceptance by The City of Calgary/other Municipalities.

  • As the successful candidate you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Completing quantity take-offs from engineering drawings for use in construction contracts and for the preparation of opinions of probable cost.

  • Preparation of cost analysis and recommendations of costs for client consideration.

  • Overseeing contract administration, including contract preparation, execution, interpretation, cost and completion monitoring and control, review and preparation of progress payment certificates, change control reporting, and contract closeout.

  • Daily on-site construction coordination, including liaison with contractors, City of Calgary / other Municipalities staff, geotechnical consultants and construction surveyor, as well as other specialized consultants.

  • Review, coordination and implementation of erosion and sediment controls on active work sites.

  • Supervision and mentorship of junior observation staff.

  • Provide Onsite Observations on a full-time basis as required.

  • Request documentation and review of compliance testing from sub consultants and The City of Calgary, as well as ensure that all relevant data and reports are complete and confirm that contractors have completed all work as per engineering drawings and project specifications.

  • Coordinate all final inspections with contractors, Municipalities and Stantec Senior Staff, in preparation for submission of completion certificates.

  • Meet, review and report to the project team on construction status, issues and concerns.

  • Actively participate in the implementation of safety controls, lead safety meetings and actively promote safety and a safe work culture in the workplace.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Very attentive to details and well organized.

  • Ability to work with others on large complex projects and committed to teamwork, as you may be working on multiple teams on multiple infrastructure projects, in a very fast paced and dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks as required.

Education and Experience

  • Candidates should possess the following Qualifications

  • A recent graduate of a post-secondary technical engineering program or a minimum of 2 years construction or resident consulting experience on residential land development or commercial infrastructure projects.
