Your Opportunity

Our Environmental Services team is growing in the Burnaby and Sidney offices. As a Reclamation Specialist, you will plan and monitor the reclamation of resource developments to help our clients manage environmental effects and financial liabilities. Tasks will be project-based and include being an advisor to project teams and technical contributions to client deliverables including reclamation and closure plans. Specific responsibilities will include client development, technical guidance, development and implementation of work programs and management of schedules, budgets and client deliverables.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to reclamation planning and permitting, including preparation of conceptual reclamation plans, reclamation, and closure plans, and five-year plans

  • Reviewing, analyzing and interpreting reclamation research findings

  • Plan and implement reclamation research/monitoring and operational reclamation programs on large disturbance resource activities

  • Design and implement monitoring programs for multi-disciplinary staff to undertake

  • Manage task deadlines and budgets

  • Provide technical guidance to clients and internal teams

  • Develop and maintain client relationships

  • Participate in environmental assessments and other permitting activities related to resource development

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Keen ability to identify key reclamation issues for a given site

  • Working knowledge and experience with the British Columbia Mines Act

  • Project experience with early and effective Aboriginal community engagement in mineral exploration and mining projects is a benefit for this position

  • Experience carrying out aspects of EA and permitting

  • Excellent writing skills and ability to contribute to the development of technical documents

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in ecology, soil science, land reclamation or related field is required and a Master’s degree is preferred

Fully qualified professional (e.g., Registered Professional Biologist, Geoscientist or Agrologist) accreditation in British Columbia is required

Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Reclamation Specialist

Experience with reclamation planning at all stages of projects from exploration or prefeasibility through to closure and rehabilitation

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining stationary at a workstation for long periods of time. Field work may include work in remote environments, challenging terrain, and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
