Your Opportunity

You will work on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior I&C Engineer/Designer. The Engineer should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer certain electrical power and lighting systems or products for a project. An I&C Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, and field work. The smaller projects that an I&C Engineer may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements

  • Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.

  • Utilizes technologies in development of three dimensional models of electrical systems

  • Prepares and revises documentation in various project phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details

  • Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent

  • Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks

  • Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications

  • Assists in the evaluation and selection of electrical systems and materials

  • Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants

  • Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating

  • Implements sustainable design principles

  • Performs calculations to analyze and design electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Be eligible for registration in Canada with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists in the province where the candidate would work as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or in the United States in the State where the candidate would work as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is a plus

  • Willingness to provide guidance and leadership for Associate Designers assigned to work on common projects

  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills

  • An understanding of I&C design standards with control systems (DCS and PLC based architectures)

  • Sound working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code or US National Electrical Codes is considered an asset

  • Must demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction

  • Knowledge of standard desktop software is required including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; Adobe pdf tools

  • CAD experience – AutoCAD or Bentley Microstation – is preferred. Programming experience (Microprocessor, C , SQL structures, etc.) is desirable

  • Field review and commissioning experience is considered an asset

  • Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers / Designers

  • The willingness to travel for field reviews and construction support is an asset

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.

Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 2 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $72,200 - $104,700 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
