Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking to hire an entry level transportation engineer to work with our team in the Cincinnati Ohio office. The position will offer the opportunity to help develop transportation infrastructure projects from the planning phase all the way through construction. Project work will encompass a wide variety of roadway solutions ranging from bike and pedestrian facilities up to complex highway and roadway design. You will be an integral member of our team and assist one or more senior engineers/designers by performing routine aspects of transportation assignments. This work will include; developing typical sections, designing alignments and profiles, creating three-dimensional models, assembling signing and striping plans, and performing hydraulic and drainage calculations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of analysis and calculations using established design criteria, methods, practices, and procedures

  • Prepare project plans and drawings for various projects including urban and rural roadways, highways, transit, trails, and intersections

  • Perform calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software

  • Assist in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats

  • Utilize technologies in development of three-dimensional models of transportation systems

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a design team on multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Experience with OpenRoads preferred. AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D a plus

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) standards preferred.

  • Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Ability to read and interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material.

  • Takes initiative on tasks, ownership of work, and actively coordinates with other members of the design team.

  • Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required)

  • Possess excellent moral character including honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required

  • Licenses/Certifications: EI Certification and desire/ability to pursue an Ohio PE license is a plus.

  • Experience: 0 to 2 years' experience in engineering and/or roadway design
