Stantec is actively seeking eager, enthusiastic candidates for a full-time Transportation Engineer position with our transportation group in Bellevue, Washington. As a member of the transportation team, you’ll work to better our community with complete streets, improved highways, revitalized riparian corridors, improved transit connectivity with bicycle and pedestrian mobility enhancements. The work will be challenging and rewarding as you lead design and construction projects.

You will perform a variety of tasks which may include leading and preparing design analysis, report preparation, community exhibits, and construction documents. These assignments may be broad, complex, diverse and are expected to help you grow to in confidence and technical ability delivering our local, state, and global transportation projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical specialist and consultant in transportation engineering discipline.

  • Assist in the preparation of client proposals, reports and the development of project design elements including plans, specifications, and estimates.

  • Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project’s purpose and the client’s needs.

  • Develop design alternatives to be compared against significant project parameters including site conditions, right-of-way requirements, utility conflicts, design standards, and cost.

  • Produce detailed, high-quality final design plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.

  • Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.

  • Prepares plans and design calculations for transportation infrastructure improvements.

  • Utilizes CAD software in development of two and three dimensional models of roadway design and provide markups for junior engineers/designers.

  • Prepares and revises documentation in planning, design and construction project phases.

  • Design roadway geometric horizontal and vertical alignments, road striping, lighting and roadside barriers.

  • Prepares construction items quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.

  • Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the transportation group.

  • Support multi-discipline design teams on a variety of projects.

  • Works on multiple projects concurrently.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated experience with CAD (Bentley MicroStation and InRoads a plus)

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience and knowledge with roadway design a plus

  • Road drainage design and analysis experience a plus

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Washington is preferred

  • Local project resume and experience preferred

This position has the flexibility of working in a hybrid work environment with a mix of remote work and in office work. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $85,200 - $123,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

  • Washington state employees are eligible to accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked except for Seattle employees who accrue sick leave in accordance with the city’s paid sick leave law.
