Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists with Stantec as an Engineer in Training. We are seeking a highly-motivated person who will work closely with Stantec's project managers on the planning and development of traffic engineering projects. They will assist in developing traffic studies, traffic analyses, signing/payment marking plans, traffic signal designs and plans, lighting designs, and/or ITS designs for various highway and roadway traffic engineering projects. They will coordinate with and provide support to the highway and community development groups, and on traffic engineering projects throughout Texas.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge of the general concepts of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering

  • Assist in the development and design of traffic engineering projects

  • Assist in preparing project plans and drawings for various highway and roadway traffic projects

  • Conduct project related field visits, traffic capacity and operation analyses, traffic impact analyses, signal warrant, safety evaluations, and other related traffic engineering work

  • Perform traffic signal designs, signal timing, ITS planning and design, signing and pavement marking, illumination, roadway, sidewalk, and ADA ramp planning and design, and other related traffic/transportation engineering work

  • Assist in the preparation of plans and reports for relevant project design elements under the guidance and supervision of a licensed professional engineer.

  • Responsible for preparing and coordinating technical activities on assigned projects

  • Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) minimum

  • EIT certification in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months is required

  • Internship or engineering experience is a plus

  • Ability to perform traffic studies, analysis, and modeling using Synchro, CORSIM, and/or VISSIM, is preferred

  • Knowledge of theory and methods used in traffic engineering calculations performed by software

  • Basic experience using Microstation and any other relevant design software; Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation is preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite

  • Developing organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule; Experience handling multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting

  • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various exhibits

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
