Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, US South, the Pursuit Lead will provide marketing leadership and expertise in collaboration with business leaders and pursuit teams to help drive top line growth through the successful execution of strategic proposals and marketing activities, and to capture must-win pursuits across the region. The role includes the oversight, coordination, and delivery of all aspects of complex proposals involving multiple contributors. It also includes working with technical teams to brainstorm strategy and messaging, develop a win plan, identify qualifications, develop content, and manage the schedule/deadlines/process.

Driving the overall pursuit process, the Pursuit Lead will partner with other members of Stantec’s regional marketing team as needed for workload sharing and growth opportunities, and to leverage visual communication, brand and promotion, public relations, and other expertise as part of strategic pursuit positioning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting and implementing proposal strategy.

  • Implementing Stantec’s business development process for strategic and must-win pursuits.

  • Collaborating with business developers, account managers, subject matter experts, and business leaders to develop value propositions and win themes.

  • Leveraging the companywide network to identify and put forward Stantec’s unique capabilities, innovative solutions, and resources that respond to client challenges and result in a distinctive competitive advantage.

  • Participating in the client pursuit process and developing an action plan that includes due diligence, decision-maker and influencer profiles, competitor analysis, and strategic teaming; and driving the preliminary go/no go and strategy review.

  • Supporting the pursuit team in key positioning activities, including research and targeted campaigns, and developing and implementing pursuit-specific win plans before an RFP is issued.

  • Planning, organizing, and directing all elements of the proposal development process after the RFP is issued, and making sure the final pursuit documents are responsive, compliant with client requirements, compliant with Stantec’s brand guidelines, and delivered on time.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with exceptional prioritization skills.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to effectively balance conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to develop and integrate win themes throughout a pursuit (from positioning to proposal to presentation).

  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, supervisors, peers, and clients.

  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and in conjunction with senior management/executive staff.

  • Excellent interviewing, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong presentation skills in small or large group environments.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and business development best practices.

  • Proficiency in web-based tools and Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite programs, including InDesign and Adobe Acrobat.

  • Ability to travel for pursuit positioning, planning, and production as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or an equivalent level of experience.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience, most recently in a senior marketing role in the A/E/C industry where coordinating and executing large, complex proposals was a primary responsibility.

  • Experience working on infrastructure and alternative delivery pursuits for public clients is helpful but not required.
