Our New Zealand Buildings team are seeking a Senior level Hydraulic Project Engineer/Project Manager to progress their career in Hydraulic Services consulting.

This role is suitable for a qualified candidate to take the lead on a diverse range of projects. The candidate will have significant Hydraulic design experience within the building services sector. This role would be suitable for someone that is looking to take a step up in their career, comfortable in managing and overseeing junior staff, sound client handling and wider project coordination skills.

You will be able to draw on your practical and commercial experience in the Hydraulic industry, in coordinating the delivery of teams and passing on your expertise and understanding of the consulting process.

We are involved in a vast variety of project types including retail, office, laboratories, residential, health and aged care, industrial, education and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be working in a strong team environment and will need to manage several projects at any one time. You will be self-motivated, resourceful and a great communicator.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Undertaking Hydraulic engineering assessment and calculations for the detailed design of building structures.

  • Experienced dealing with a range of clients and stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies and commercial companies.

  • Self-management skills will be as important as your technical design and project management abilities.

  • Prioritise workloads to ensure our Clients' needs are met whilst maintaining strong and trusting working relationships with your colleague's both locally and across the international Stantec team.

  • Build and develop your professional profile both internally and externally by consistently demonstrating an ability to successfully deliver projects.

  • Maintain an appropriate level of service to Clients.

  • Assist with project management and business development.

  • Support other PE’s in completing projects in terms of program, profitability, technical risk management and overall Client satisfaction.

  • Adhere to professional standards, ethics and quality procedures.

  • Contribute to our company culture.

Qualifications

About you | E pā ana ki a koe

To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Mechanical Engineer Degree or equivalent

  • Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards

  • Minimum 6 years professional experience in the consulting or engineering industry.

  • Must have previous Hydraulic building services experience

  • Technically very strong in terms of understanding the key elements of the design and construction associated with Hydraulic Engineering works.

  • Ability to multitask and deliver high profile projects in a timely manner

  • Be well connected/networked within the industry

  • The ability to use initiative and think outside the box

  • Positive, can-do attitude

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent) and/or Producer Statement Author would be favourable, but not essential.
