Your Key Responsibilities

DO: Project Delivery

  • Serve as Project Technical Lead and/or Project Manager for water infrastructure projects with responsibility for reviewing and sealing of projects

  • Develop project management plans for projects; establish goals and objectives for unique and complex projects

  • Responsible for successfully establishing projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations

  • Provide technical leadership for projects in Georgia and across the southern United States region and occasionally for projects in other parts of the country and world, performing a variety of tasks to plan, execute and deliver the completed project

  • Plan, organize, and manage the production of project deliverables to ensure on time delivery, technical quality, and within budget

  • Perform civil conveyance design for storm, water, and sanitary sewer projects, from preliminary design to detailed design, bidding and construction inspection, with consideration for minimizing impacts and constraints due to environmental and permitting requirements.

  • Preparation and guidance of engineering calculations, design drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents.

  • Preparation of proposals and technical reports as technical lead of the project team

  • Execute multiple concurrent projects efficiently

  • Conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for project decisions

  • Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned project and facilitates independent technical review projects by others

  • Effectively apply industry standards as well as client standards and requirements

  • Work with project teams to coordinate permits for projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, utility companies, and reviewing and permitting governmental agencies.

  • Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects

BUILD: Supervise and Mentor Young Professionals

  • Supervise local staff and responsible for providing mentoring and coaching for developing professionals to guide their career development objectives

  • Review team’s work and provide technical guidance on design approach and challenges

  • Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members

  • Recognize when technical problems develop and initiate guidance for corrective actions

  • Conduct work in a safe manner and promote health and safety within the office and outside of the office while visiting clients and job sites

WIN: Support Business Development Activities

  • Assist the Business Center Practice Leader with developing technical approaches for Statements of Qualifications and Proposals and assist with preparing the technical aspects for project interviews conducted by clients.

  • Client facing for business development contact, meetings, walk-downs, and presentations.

  • Develop positive relationships with clients, earn their confidence and become their trusted adviser.

  • Prepare scope of work documents and estimates

  • Collaboration with multiple business lines to develop opportunities

  • Participate in local and national professional associations including the Georgia Association of Water Professionals and sections of the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation. Actively participate by seeking leadership roles in the organization and presenting at conferences

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Skilled leader and team player capable of building relationships both internally and externally

  • Skilled at building consensus and cooperation with staff at all skill levels

  • Skilled at inspiring, motivating and holding team accountable for delivery for innovative design solutions.

  • Strong capability of developing municipal conveyance designs for water and wastewater infrastructure from conceptual level to detailed design and construction.

  • Ability to work in a flexible office environment, including working within the office setting, or working remote from home where required.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings.

  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (microtunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure.

  • Understanding of storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation, such as relining, is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrates strong understanding of conveyance system construction elements as it relates to design in order to select construction methods and defining work area limits.

  • Ability to provide guidance to junior and intermediate designers and supporting team members for collective project deliverables and to develop skills. Be recognized as a technical leader in municipal design.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Ability to complete tasks to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Demonstrated creativity, foresight and engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems.

  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.

  • Project Management experience, such as budgeting, scheduling and coordination between stakeholders.

  • Effectively communicates project issues with the contractor, project team and clients in the execution of engineering projects.

  • Strong presentation, technical and communication skills.

  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite is required; proficiency in engineering applications such as AutoCAD and MicroStation software packages are considered an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Master of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution considered an asset

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

  • Or the combination of education and experience to qualify for licensure in Georgia within one year of hire

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in water infrastructure design projects

  • Must have good driving record and valid driver's license
