Your Opportunity

The role of the Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects. The Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Project-driven scoping, specification, design and configuration of process control and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), including Fire & Gas.

  • Design and modification of automation and control systems including programmable logic controllers (PLC) and distributed control systems (DCS).

  • Preferred experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and ABB/Bailey DCS.

  • Develop instrumentation and controls deliverables such as instrument datasheets, instrument index, sizing calculations, cause and effect diagrams, control narratives, functional checkouts, control system architecture, & control panel design.

  • Selection and specification of process instruments and electronic transmitters for pressure, temperature, flow, position, composition analyzers, etc.

  • Selection and sizing of control valves and actuators.

  • Piping & instrumentation, loop, wiring, & schematic diagram development and support.

  • Attend/support PHA and other process safety assessment, evaluation, and design sessions.

  • Instrumentation/Control system commodity specifications and material requisition development.

  • Project team communication.

  • Coordination within multi-discipline team to meet deliverables.

  • Prepare construction work packages.

  • Available for travel, typically consisting of site visits to project locations.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency performing analysis and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

  • Report writing skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role

  • Alaska Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with DCS, PLC, and SCADA panel design and specifications

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
